Q1 2025 Market Update

As we navigate the current market volatility in light of uncertainty surrounding trade, tariffs, monetary and fiscal policy, Justin Kittle CFA®, CAIA®, CFP® Portfolio Manager and Advisor, provides context and perspective around where we are and the outlook for the remainder of 2025 and beyond.

It seems there’s not a lot to be optimistic about right now. Sentiment is down, GDP is showing signs of slowing, more S&P 500 companies are issuing negative guidance for Q1, and the inflation rate and unemployment rate are expected to move in unfavorable directions. However, Justin reminds us that the markets are very much forward-looking. Meaning that, the market sells off well before economic data shows a slowdown and often rebounds well before the economy itself does as investors anticipate changes in the environment. What matters more than the absolute value of the data is how it unfolds relative to expectations.

While market swings are never pleasant, it’s times like these that personalized, well-constructed portfolios and financial plans truly shine. There is so much swirling around in the media right now and the markets have been incredibly bumpy, so if you have any questions or concerns, or just want to chat about what is going on in the markets, please reach out to us.
